青海波の合間、雲取(kumodori)で描かれた水辺の風景図です。
松や桐の樹木は吉祥文様であり、青海波や雲取と合わせて縁起の良い柄を重ねた帯です。

雲取りとは古典模様の一種です。ふんわりとたなびく雲の様子を輪郭線や色で表現したもので、周囲や雲の中に草花などをあしらったものも雲取りと呼びます。
雲は消えては生まれ、その形や色を様々に変えることから、事が起こるきっかけ、兆しを伝えるものとして古くから人々の関心を集めてきました。
龍や神の住処とも言われ、常識を超えた力と結び付けられた雲は、やがて良い事が起こる前兆として信じられるようになり、おめでたい柄として着物や帯に取り入れられるようになりました。

桐は日本の代表的な文様の一つであり、花言葉は「高尚」。
吉祥をもたらす鳳凰が住む木として中国より伝えられ、かつては皇室専用の文様として扱われた格の高い柄です。
のちに天皇から政権を司る者にその証として賜られた文様へと変化し、武将たちの間では桐を使った家紋が多く作られ広まることとなります。
また昔は女の子が生まれると庭に桐の苗を植えて、嫁入りの際にはその桐の木で箪笥を作ったといいます。
桐は真っ直ぐに育ち、また成長が早いことから、良質にすくすくと育つという意味や願いが込められています。
